The objective was to design a detached garage with a vehicle lift, for working on a 1970 Chevette. That was the mission. Through the course of design, we matched the new garage as a complimentary carriage barn to the historically intended existing house, complete with a cupola and precise roof and trim detailing. A wonderful opportunity presented itself in the form of a screened porch built off the side of the new garage, creating a courtyard landscape experience with the existing home, enjoying the peaceful views into the meadow and forest, and quiet sunsets.
